Teachers To Take Action Against GES Over Delay In Distribution Of TM1 Laptops.
An association of concerned teachers in basic schools called Ghana Education Service and teacher unions to distribute the laptops to them or else they will demonstrate to call for the money they paid.
In November 2021, teachers were billed an amount of Ghs 509.55 which represented 30 percent cost of the laptop. The money was deducted from the teachers’ professional development allowance of Ghs 1,200.
According to the report, almost all the teachers at the second cycle schools have received their laptops whilst few teachers at the basic school level received them. The primary school teachers did not have a feel for the machine.
According to the Ghana Education Service, materials needed to facilitate teaching are made available on the laptop, hence, teachers need it to supplement classroom work.
As a result, the primary school teachers have expressed worries over delays in the distribution process of the TM1 Laptops, as it is hurting teaching and learning.
Furthermore, according to this group of teachers, the silence of the Ghana Education Service and the teacher unions have left them no option but to demand a refund of their deducted monies. They further stated that this situation calls for an organization of press conferences by affected teachers to demand justice
