Profile Of Mr. Owusu Prince Kwabena, Former SRC President Of SDA College Of Education
Owusu Prince Kwabena is my name and the last born of Ms. Cecilia Abena Fosua, a caterer, but ta hird child of Mr. William Kwame Was a farmer and businessman who deals with the sales of cars. I was born in Nkwabeng in the Nkoranza South Constituency of the Bono East Region of Ghana. I had my Primary 1 – 3 Education at Nkwabeng SDA Basic School after which I joined my parents at Tema-Newtown in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana to continue from Primary 4 – Primary 5 at Manhean SDA Basic School. I later returned to Nkwabeng to continue my education from Primary 6 at Nkwabeng SDA Basic School until the end of 1st term in JHS 1 where I moved back to Tema to join my parents. At Tema, I continued JHS 1 at SDA Basic School, Manhean in Tema-Newtown but completed my JHS 3 and Basic School Education at Bennakwa Educational Institute at Gbetsile in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency.
I continued my Education at Chemu Senior High School where I pursued General Arts with Elective Mathematics, Economics, History, and Government as my Elective Courses. At the end of my Senior High School Education, I had the opportunity to study Political Science, Sociology, and Information Studies at the Uthe university of Ghana but destiny chose SDA College of Education located in Asokore near Koforidua for me amidst life challenges. I am currently a continuing student of SDA College of Education in L400 pursuing a Ba. Ed Primary Education with Social Studies.
During my Primary school days, I served as Class Perfect until Primary 6 when I became the Senior Boys’ Prefect. At Bennakwa Educational Institute, I served as the Senior Boys’ Prefect. My Senior High School days allowed meto serve as Class Secretary and Rep for General Arts 2 Class on SRC Central Committee; served as the Scriptwriter and President for the Chemu Drama Club, Senior Executive House Prefect for the Narh-Bita House, and other committees of the SRC.
At College, I became the Course Rep Secretary, L100 Male Rep to the End Students’ Abuse and Bullying (E-SAB) Committee of the 2018/19 SRC, Organizing Secretary to the Abuse and Disciplinary Committee of the 2018/19 SRC, Member 2018/19 SRC Writers’ Team, and finally became the SRC President since 2019 to March 2022. My portfolio as SRC President gallowed meto serves on the Sector Executive Council of the Eastern-Greater Accra Sector of the Teacher TTraineesAssociation of Ghana where I had the opportunity to be on different but various committees of the Sector. Subsequently, I contested for the Presidency of the Eastern – Greater Accra Sector of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana in 2020 but lost for the first time in every election and position contested for since my leadership ladder. Finally, January 2022 allowed me to wto in the Sector Presidency which simultaneously makes me a member of the National Executive Council of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana.
During my tenure as SRC President, I was able to achieve many which included the following:
- Construction of a multipurpose court
- Construction and furnishing of SRC MINI Mart
- Construction and furnishing of SRC HAIR SALOON
- Construction and furnishing of SRC Printing Firm with all equipment needed for work
- SRC We Work-Study Programme which seeks to give internal scholarships to students through employment for job avenues created within and under the SRC
- Purchasing of complete SRC sound systems
- Installation of WiFi
- Introduction of Campus Project fund to support Campus beautification and development
- Creation of the SRC Food Venture
- Completion of SRC Ultramodern Noticeboard
- Purchase of Printer and Touch Screen Laptops for the SRC Secretariat
- Acquisition, renovation, and furnishing of SRC Secretariat
- Furnishing of the Student Center with Projector Screen, Projector and DSTV
- Renovation and furnishing of SRC Patron’s Office
- Renovation and furnishing of Assessment Officer’s Office.
The above are but a few of the achievements during my tenure as SRC President.
It is my aim and vision to make the Eastern – Greater Accra Sector of the Teacher TTraineesAssociation of Ghana the most attractive sector which seeks to reconcile with the past and by inclusion create avenues that seek to support my constituents.
At this end, I hope that we all do our best as leaders whose actions would give Hope to the constituents that we serve and not fear.
