Update On Colleges Of Education Teaching And Non-Teaching Staff Strike Today
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) fears after receiving an invitation letter that changed engagement members.
Initially, today Tuesday, November 22, 2022, was scheduled for engagement with National Labour Commission.
Mr. Prince Obeng Hemang, the National President of CETAG, told Citi News today Tuesday 22 November 2022 that they were waiting to hold engagements with the National Labour Commission (NLC) on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, but unfortunately, they received a late invitation yesterday Monday.

Per the invitation they received, their engagement with NLC has been changed to the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
Considering the change of institution of engagement, CETAG is in dilemma about the steps the government is taking on their industrial strike action now. CETAG promised to decide on their presence at the meeting.
Speaking with Citi News Today November 22, 2022, Mr. Obeng Hemang said he and his union members will decide on whether they will attend the meeting as specified in the invitation.
He further elaborated that “the technicality of them (the Unions) appearing before the Minister when they have been summoned before the NLC as to whether they wouldn’t be in contempt for seeking to do that arbitration without the express permission of the Commission is something we are seeking advice from our counsel to see whether we are even supposed to proceed with going for that meeting.”
