A group identified as the National Coalition of Unsatisfied Candidates of NTC May 2021 Examination,
has petitioned the Parliament of Ghana and the Minister of Education as a matter of urgency to cancel the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.
The aforementioned group’s decision came after a lot of them have failed the May 2021 NTC Licensure Examination.

According to the group, teaching is both Art and Science, hence teachers’ competence cannot be examined only by mere writing of exams. The six-credit hour exams cannot determine the competency of Ghanaian graduate teachers who have already passed through various stages of education and training before graduating as a teacher from approved and standardized Tertiary institutions in Ghana.
” Six Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 600.00), being the cost of registration for re-marking is too expensive. This sought to impose an economic burden on the unemployed graduate teacher”.
We believe that the introduction of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination is a deliberate attempt by the government to deny the newly qualified teachers’ direct postings.
Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, since its introduction, has seen a lot of resistance from teacher unions in the country.
